Ethical-legal foundations to legalize the assisted suicide
Abstract
The person is recognized constitutionally as an independent moral subject, able to choose the principIes and moral values that govern his life. The democratic and liberal State recognizes that the perspective from which the problem of the good and bad thing can be examined are diverse. From that pluralism, it is quite legitimate to consider whether life is a sacred good or is something with no value. Who benevolently, accedes to put term to the suffering and to someone's life of which is unbearable, has not done any good, but removed him from miserable situation. The legalization of active euthanasia and the restrictions and precautions adopted by the Colombian Constitutional Court, erase the fragile distinction between omitting a behavior that would prolong the life of a terminal patient or fulfilling an action specifical1y directed to end.
