The philosophical research about the origin of laguage
Abstract
The origin of language has been a topic of research and debate since the antiquity until now. In this lecture the oldest known inquiry by the Egyptian king Psametic is registered, and also some of the historical answers to that question are described. Special attention is given to the philosophers of the eighteenth century, and also to some contemporary approaches in sociobiology and linguistics. FinaUy, the role of love in communication and language is highlighted.
