Glosario Ilustrado del Carnaval de Barranquilla. Un proyecto piloto de lexicografía moderna
Abstract
This article is the result of a study on how lexicographic techniques can be used to preserve mankind’s cultural and intangible heritage. It has two parts. The first offers a description of the methodology used to assembly a glossary of the more typical expressions associated with the Barranquilla Carnival, along with an explanation of the composition and structure of their lexicographic items, the adopted technical forms, and a comparison to the Diccionario de la Lengua Española of the Real Academia (drae) and the Nuevo Diccionario de Colombianismos (ndcol). The second part contains the Illustrated Glossary of the Barranquilla Carnival (gloicaba), which is comprised of 51 lexicographic items with accepted uses, examples and illustrations. This vocabulary is the result of a practical lexicographic study that compliments and broadens the contents of the aforementioned dictionaries for the sole purpose of preserving the Barranquilla Carnival.
