Epistemología moderna y ciencias sociales. Un análisis crítico de Charles Taylor
Abstract
Charles Taylor’s philosophy evolves around criticism of modernity. In his writings, this philosopher shows how modern epistemology wills the contemporary era an anthropological conception that affects the lifestyles now in place. With the help of the ideas of Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty, Taylor proposes a way to overcome the crisis of modernity. The pre-comprehension and character incarnate in the human being are two concepts that make it possible to surpass the barrier modernity poses to the human act of knowing. The notion of the world opens new horizons to reason that are not limited to instrumental use. Therefore, Taylor’s proposal looms large as an alternative not only to epistemology, but to social theory as well.
