Abstract

The concept of reason that dominates the modern era is too limited to provide a satisfactory answer to the question about the meaning of life. In this paper, the author intends to demonstrate how the identification of reason with its positivistic-scientific dimension is a priori and does not respond to the natural dynamics of reason. Historical research and the testimony of many scientists show that science leads the scientist to a reality that goes beyond empirical data. Benedict XVI’s invitation to broaden the boundaries of reason, by opening it up to the overriding questions about truth and good, can fit in perfectly with scientific activity.
