Abstract

Hegel´s Lectures on Aesthetics has been a text of outstanding importance for the History of artand of culture. Every author has experienced and intense influence of Hegel, in dealing with both disciplines. The case of E.H. Gombrich is not different, even thou his approach to Hegel´s Aesthetics, in contrast with mostother modern authors, has been mainly critic. Gombrich rejected Hegel´s idea of the prominence of a certainage´s spirit, refusing that it may act as an intellectual and impersonal creator of the works of art, even thou healways assumed the narrow interconection between the artist and the historical context in which he lives, beena further prove of his genius the capacity of assuming his own time.
