Modernidad, violencia y procesos decivilizadores. Revisión crítica a partir de la propuesta de Norbert Elias
Keywords:
Civilizing process, barbarism, informalization, decivilization.Abstract
From a sociological point of view, one of the most visible ambivalences of modernity is the persistence of violence in civilized societies and its constant presence throughout modernization processes. This article presents Elias’ arguments about this subject and the so-called “decivilising processes”. After that, critical revisions of his thesis are shown in addition to recent reelaborations on this topic that offer a more fruitful comprehension of this “hidden face” of Modernity.
